Anal Fistula

An anal fistula is an abnormal tunnel between the anal canal and the skin, often caused by an abscess from the mucous glands near the anus. This condition can result from blockages in these glands, leading to the accumulation of secretions and the subsequent formation of an abscess and fistula.

Anal Fissure

Characterized by a rupture in the thin tissue of the rectal mucosa, anal fissure can cause significant pain and bleeding during bowel movements. This common condition can impact individuals of all ages.

Hemorrhoids

Also known as piles, hemorrhoids involve swollen blood vessels in the lower rectum and anus, leading to discomfort, especially during bowel movements.
 

Anal Fistula Treatment

• Surgical Intervention: For non-complex cases, the physician may opt to surgically open the skin and muscles surrounding the tunnel to promote healing from the inside out. In complex cases, a drainage tube (seton) may be inserted before surgery to drain pus and fluids.

• Sphincter Muscle Treatment: In certain instances, the doctor may need to make an incision in the sphincter muscle, which could affect bowel control post-procedure.

Anal Fissure Treatment

• Nonsurgical Approaches: Lifestyle adjustments, such as a high-fiber diet, increased fluid intake, and regular exercise, may be recommended. Additionally, creams and suppositories containing steroids can alleviate pain during bowel movements.

• Surgical Option: Chronic anal fissures that do not respond to nonsurgical measures may require lateral internal sphincterotomy (LIS), a procedure involving the partial removal of the anal sphincter muscle to reduce spasm and promote healing.

Hemorrhoids Treatment

• Tailored Treatment: The choice of treatment for hemorrhoids depends on the individual's symptoms and severity of the condition.

• Multifaceted Approach: Treatment options range from lifestyle modifications and topical remedies to more advanced interventions as warranted by the specific circumstances.
